What tribes offer are collaborative skills, meaningful participation. Tribes is a gradual process to achieve certain learning objectives. Four agreements are respected: teachers [interview]: there are four tribe agreements. The first is attentive listening. You want to listen. This is the first agreement. The second agreement shows esteem, not people. So it`s an environment where I think about who helped me be a good learner, and I want to be able to appreciate that. The third agreement is the right to exist and the right to participate. When a student enters a room where they feel uncomfortable, they should simply be able to say passport and then come back. The fourth agreement is mutual respect. We want to respect all students for whoever they are when they come into the classroom and make room for them.
Students are divided into groups, there are 4 tribe agreements. You have to show esteem so as not to reject people. If they feel uncomfortable, they will not force to do the activity, they can happen. Tribes starts in elementary school. It is a way to engage students intellectually, socially and emotionally.
